Opening the assistant
You can open the assistant from two entry points:- Sparkles FAB: the floating action button in the bottom-right corner of every screen. Click the sparkles icon to slide open the assistant panel without leaving your current view.
- Top-bar Assistant button: the Assistant link in the top navigation bar opens the same panel.
What the assistant can do
Answer data questions
Ask about totals, trends, and records (revenue for a date range, a customer’s last order, product cost history, payroll entries) and get an immediate answer pulled from your live data.
Propose data changes
Instruct the assistant to create or edit customers, orders, COGS entries, or payroll records. It stages the change as a preview card for your review before writing anything.
Read vs. write operations
The assistant distinguishes between reading and writing so you stay in control. Reading data (no confirmation needed) The assistant can look up and display any of the following without asking for confirmation:- Revenue, P&L, daily sales, goals, and payroll summaries for any period
- Customer details, order history, and line items
- Product costs, invoices, deliveries, and the audit log
- Confirm: the change is saved and logged.
- Cancel: nothing is written, and the assistant awaits your next instruction.
DELETE inline before the button activates, so a permanent change can never happen with a single click.
The write tools include creating, editing, and deleting customers and orders; sending an invoice; dispatching a delivery; running a reorder; setting a goal; upserting a product cost; and adding a payroll week. To act on a customer by name, the assistant can look one up directly (for example “edit Dillon’s phone number”) without listing your whole roster.
Audit trail
Every confirmed write is recorded in the platform’s activity log with the timestamp, the assistant session, and a summary of the change. This gives you a complete history of AI-assisted edits for compliance and review purposes.Managing your chat session
1
Start a new chat
Click New chat at the top of the assistant panel to clear the current conversation context. Use this when switching between unrelated tasks to keep the assistant focused.
2
Use suggestion chips
Quick-start prompts appear when the conversation is empty. Click any chip to pre-fill a common question, for example, “What was last month’s revenue?” or “Show me open orders.”
3
Keep the session active
The assistant session expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. If you leave the panel idle, the context resets. Start a new chat to continue.
